Collage Magazine
This is my Collage magazine, i have tried to make it look interesting and colourful so it looks more attractive. I have kept the Deyes High school logo so the readers can still clearly see it, but it doesn't take up the whole page. i have placed a photo in the middle to break it up and so the page was not full of text. underneath the photo i have placed a logo for the school charity and used puffs with small bites of information in about things that are happening in school.

Deyes High Newsletter - Mock up
If I had the chance to make our schools newsletter I would probably make it look something like this. I would make it more colourful and interesting rather than using dull colours and no photos, because it does not look appealing or interesting. I think my mock up looks allot more busy and is more likely to be picked up and read than the plain front cover with hardly anything on it. I also think this one stands out more and will attract more attention.
Archbishop Becks Newsletter analysis
I have found this newsletter for Archbishop Becks High school. Compared to Deyes High Schools newsletter this one looks more busy and interesting, and i would read this one if i had to pick out of the two. The Deyes High newsletter looks dull and boring as there is not much colour and no photographs. This newsletter has got allot of colour and pictures, and its not all text. There is allot more going on then there is on Deyes highs.
This can help me pick the layout and style of my music magazine because the more attractive and interesting it looks, the more people will want to read it. If it looks dull and boring like Deyes highs newsletter then i don't think many people will want to read it. I want my magazine to stand out and catch the readers attention. i want it to look interesting and busy.

My 2nd Double page spread
This is a double page spread i have found from a NME magazine, to see where i found it click here. This magazine spread is more girly than my 1st double page spread, with lots of pink, and again the use of a drop capital at the start of the text. The main photo is of a female singer which also can be represented by the colour pink. There is big bold writing for the title of the page which stands out.

This is the double page spread i have found. On it there are a couple of puffs and allot of the colour blue i associate this colour with the 3 boys in the photo. A drop capital is also used at the beginning of the text which stands out. this double page spread looks busy and theres lots going on. Like a typical teenage life.
Mood Board - Indie
These are things i have found that i associate with indie. I had to make this mood board as part of my research. I found most of the clothes and accessories from http://www.topshop.com/
I have mainly used clothes, jewelry, bags, shoes and sunglasses, I also put some pictures of guitars on, and tried to use bright colours. I have chose to use bright colours and stylish indie clothing. Skinny jeans are very popular and can be mixed with any top and I think this goes well with the idea of what indie is, as it is a mixture of things that are bright, colourful, patterned or printed.

My Magazine layout
My Genre
The genre of my music magazine is Indie. I chose this because I like Indie style music and find it interesting. I have been researching Indie and found out that the term 'Indie music' is actually 'Independent music', but people shorten it and call it Indie. It follows a 'Do-it-yourself' approach to recording and publishing. In the UK, Indie music first came about in the 1950's and 1960's, and the UK Indie chart was first compiled in 1980. Independent labels have been known to strive for minimal influence on the artist they represent, avoiding the artist-cultivating behavior of many major labels.
Here are some artists i have chosen, who's style i am going to use in my own photos. I picked Lilly Allen as an artist i would use to decide what my actors will wear and what they will look like, I like her style, and I think she looks Indie. I also like her music.
I found this picture on google and i do not know who it is but I thought it looked quite indie and I like the style of clothes she is wearing, also the setting and the shot type is unusual. I think the checked blouse and skinny jeans look indie and something I might try with my actors.

Pixie Lott is another artist I found who looks stylish and is dressed in a casual indie way. I like the grey Blazer with patterned shorts, again i will experiment the blazer look with my friends who are going to be in my photos.
